- Reassess Your WHY
Many of us set New Year’s Goals and Resolutions each year with fire lit under our a** and pure determination to succeed.
If we all start out so strong, why do only 8% of people ACTUALLY reach their goals by the end of the year?
Because as time goes on, life “gets in the way” and people lose focus of the reasons they even started. Which would be their driving force to STAY FOCUSED until the end.
A good way to reassess is to look at your goals frequently whether that is through a vision board or a simple list, you have to keep this in the front of your mind.
Also, doing Monthly, and Quarterly Check-ins to make sure you’re staying on track helps.
- Eliminate Distractors
Distractors can come in many forms such as:
- Cell Phones
- Internet/ Social Media
- TV/ Entertainment
- Food (lol)
When it comes to staying focused, you NEED to eliminate the things that distract you.
If that means, putting your phone in another room while you zone in, removing all remotes and devices, then that’s what you need to do.
It’s not abnormal to take extreme measures to maintain your focus.
To simply put, not much will get done throughout the day if you are interrupted by every notification, gadget, and person who reaches out to you.
- Make Lists
The easiest way to stay on task is with a list.
It doesn’t get any simpler than when you put all your plans on paper and follow the sequence of tasks.
List-making has proven to help people be more productive as it takes away the stress of “having to think” through the process.
I try to make lists for as many things as possible:
- Blog Post Lists
- YouTube Video Ideas
- Grocery Lists
- Daily To-Do lists
- Weekly & Monthly To-Do Lists
- Use Remedies
Aside from internal help, there are external resources that can keep you focused on your tasks and goals.
An underrated remedy, Focus Music.
I SWEAR BY THIS!!
Thankfully due to the vast library of the internet, we have access to playlists and YouTube channels who put together music that’s designed to help you focus with instrumental beats and sounds.
When I was a college student, I relied on this music to finish big tasks that seemed impossible. Somehow after playing the music, and just working.. I finally finished my assignment quicker than expected.
Here are a few of my favorite playlists:
More helpful remedies include:
- Drinking Green Tea
- Limiting Stress
- Hot bath with Epson Salt
- Clear Environment
There are few things more peaceful in this world than a clean house, and clear space.
Something about it just makes you feel more accomplished, more creative, and happier.
Do yourself a favor and take a few minutes each day to tidy up, it’ll save you more brain power to use on the things most important.
One of my favorite tactics is to set a 10 minute timer each day and just clean as much as you can. Doing just this bare minimum can improve your concentration and mood for the entire day!
- Find Your Zone
Everyone has a place where they thrive the most.
Whether that’s their: office, bedroom, car balcony, studio, you name it --- there are places you naturally can focus in better than others.
FIND YOUR PLACE.
And don’t be afraid to retreat there every single time. If that’s what it takes to get the job done.
Music Artists have Studios that put them in their creative space.
College campuses have “study rooms”.
Workers have offices.
Find your space and thrive.
- Follow Through to the End
Lastly, and definitely not least.. Persistence can take you through any chaotic time.
To have the will to want to push through, despite the circumstances is KEY to overcoming them.
It doesn’t matter how many times you have to put your phone down AGAIN, or realign yourself to focus. The important part is that you keep trying until you reach your end goal.
I am sending you all love and support during this trying time! You can get through this!
